Tobacco Litigation Law

The Hepler Broom Law Firm has been deeply involved in tobacco litigation for well over a decade in some of the most treacherous venues for defendants in the United States. The firm was trial counsel for The Tobacco Institute in a nationally followed conspiracy and product liability trial in St. Clair County, Illinois, and it has defended The Tobacco Institute in numerous healthcare recovery lawsuits in various venues.

The firm serves as trial counsel for Phillip Morris USA Inc. and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as it currently handles both class action and individual cases for both companies. Larry Hepler and the entire class action team are an integral part of the Price v. Philip Morris USA Inc. case, which is the first “lights cigarettes” class action to be tried in the nation. As trial counsel for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, the trial team is currently actively preparing for trial of the companion “lights” class action set for trial in October, 2003. Our team provides invaluable advice based on its greater than 30 years of experience litigating in Illinois and Missouri’s state and federal courts. The team actively participates in every aspect of these cases from initial planning and strategy, through discovery and trial, to the end of the appellate process.
